The California Latino Caucus Endorses Katherine Perez-Estolano for California Senate 2016
SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California Latino Legislative Caucus announced it has endorsed Katherine Perez-Estolano for the 25th District of the California State Senate.
“There is no question that a strong Latina candidate will benefit California’s State Senate,” Latino Caucus Chairman, Assembly member Luis Alejo (D-Salinas) said. “Californians are looking for more diverse and qualified representation in the State Legislature. Katherine will bring both diversity and strong qualifications to the Legislature in service to her constituents. She understands the most pressing issues facing the district and has strategic plan of action to address them. This is a community candidate, one whose message resonates across all voters in her district, irrespective of their background. The Latino Caucus is proud to endorse a candidate who brings the community together and we look forward to watching this Senate race.”
Katherine Perez-Estolano is the only Latina running for California Senate District 25. A longtime San Gabriel Valley resident, Katherine has raised her family and has a vested career within the community. Currently, Katherine is an Adjunct Professor at the USC School of Planning and Development. She is a champion for urban development and has successfully engaged her multicultural community in development projects. Perez-Estolano is passionate about improving the community and improving the public services that can be provided to the people. A proven leader, she has demonstrated her skill as Executive Director of the Urban Land Institute Los Angeles; Vice President of Development for Forest City Development; and as the Deputy to the Mayor of Pasadena. She has also served on numerous boards, including Latinos for Economic Advancement and Development. More than ¼ of Senate District 25 is Latino, and Katherine, as the only Latina in the race, is uniquely positioned to help move the community forward.
The California Latino Legislative Caucus serves as a forum for members from the State Senate and Assembly to identify key issues affecting Latinos and develop avenues to empower the Latino Community throughout California. Following in the footsteps of generations of pioneering Latinos who settled and helped build this great state, Latino legislators united in 1973 to maximize their power notwithstanding their limited numbers. Since its creation 40 years ago, the Caucus has grown in both numbers and stature. It boasts a rich history of legislative and political success and serves as one of the most influential and strategic organizations in California.
